We Want You to Embark on This Journey with Us...
Hello, my name is Suzie.
I’m a lovable li'l bird with a lot more to offer than meets the eye.
When my friends at Good Mourning asked me to help them tell their story, I simply couldn't resist.
It’s the story of the deeply-rooted, elephant-in-the-room kind of loss in their lives – the loss of their mothers.
Now, they didn’t just pick me out of a hat.
If that were the case, I’d just be a boring old white dove those silly magicians use.
But as you can see from my beautiful grey pigment, I’m so much more than that.
I’m a Mourning Dove.
You may have seen me before, perched atop your roof or some high tree top in the park, bellowing my soothing coo sound in the wee hours of the morning.
If you're not the kind who frequents rooftops and parks in the wee hours of the morning... then I’m proud to grace you with my presence for the very first time.
And although I have been selected to be a representation of death, that's not who I really am.
My true identity is far more important to me.
I am the symbol of hope.
I don’t take my mission here lightly.
I am here to remind you that mourning time can be a good time.
It’s good because each moment in your life – past, present or future – pays homage to your loved one's legacy and how they helped to shape you.
While we can't reverse the loss we suffered, what we can do is change how we look at our new reality.
A reality that while painful can still yield beautiful things – new friendships, personal growth and purpose.
A new season of life – and a new season of love (cue theme song from RENT).
Once you realize all the goodness that can come from loss, your life will change for the better.
Good Mourning was founded on the idea that positivity and love can be born from death.
I don’t know about you but when you lose someone very special to you, the most comforting thing in the world is knowing that... you are not alone.
You are not alone.
We’re in this together.
Again, we’re so glad you’re here.
That’s it for now, so back to my nest I go.
